Lady In Black
Lady In Black is a developing body of work that seeks to comment on the severity of GBV, sexual assault, and rape in our country. As a queer black man that is constantly surrounded by women, I imagine the daily trauma and psychological effects that GBV, sexual assault and rape have on women, through this project. A huge influence that came from making this work is artist Bongeziwe Mabandla and his song titled “Wena”, that clearly translated the message I want to get across. What I want my viewers to take from this series is how much of an urgency and severity that GBV, sexual assault and rape issues are in our country.
